He was a man known by almost everyone in the village of Tweed and around Centre Hastings, and he is being remembered for his support in the sports community.
54-year-old Charlie Tebo passed away on Monday.
Tebo was well known in the farming community, for playing baseball, and coaching soccer, but it was hockey where he was a pillar in the community.
Although he never had children playing hockey, Tebo coached in Tweed, Tamworth and Madoc for more than 25 years. He also coached with the Quinte Red Devils.
When there was a risk of a team folding, Tebo stepped up to help out. He was not just a coach, but a great athlete as well, playing for the Madoc, Tweed, and Marmora (MTM Hurricanes) Jr C Team in the 80’s, along with running track in high school, and being a strong baseball player.
Brad Brooks is an Executive for the Tweed Minor Hockey Association, and says Tebo was known by everyone in town.
Brooks says he coached some top end clubs, including numerous All-Ontario-Championship teams.
Tebo is survived by his wife Chrissy, and daughters Tiffany and Cassie.
