Quinte West firefighters battled an attic fire in Quinte West Friday morning.
Fire Chief John Whelan said they were called to Weeks Avenue in Trenton around 10:30 a.m. for reports of a solar panel on the back of a house that caught fire.
He said it burned through the panel into the attic.
Crews responded quickly and were able to corral the fire within an hour while also saving two cats who were hiding under a bed.
Whelan estimates the damage is approximately $100,000 and commended the crew for their quick response which prevented further damage.
There were no reported injuries and Hydro One attended the scene.
