Last month was a notably drier and warmer December than is normal in the Bay of Quinte region.
According to data collected at CFB Trenton, last month’s daily average temperature of -0.4 degrees celsius was higher than the historical average of -3.3 degrees.
Typically around 50 millimetres of rain falls in the Bay of Quinte area in December along with about 36 centimetres of snow.
Last month saw more rain, 72 millimetres, and less snow, 16.4 cm, than was to be expected and more than half of the snow from last month, nine centimetres, fell on December 18.
The single day high of 15.7 degrees celsius on December 11 of 2021 very nearly reached the historical highest temperature for December which was 16.2 set December 3, 1982.
