Member of Parliament for Northumberland-Peterborough South Philip Lawrence spoke to Quinte News, as we continue looking back at 2021.
He said COVID-19 was once again the largest issue. “It felt like we would move one step forward, get some momentum, and then we would get pushed down again.”
Lawrence says the cost of living was also up in 2021. He says a five percent jump in the cost of living was felt over the last 12 months, and believes that will continue into the new year.
“The large increase in gas, in housing, in the cost of our food, we are seeing it across the spectrum.”
Another challenge was the election.
“As soon as an election is called, you are no longer a Member of Parliament. All the files you are working on, everyone you are trying to help, it stops.”
Lawrence finished by thanking voters in Northumberland-Peterborough South, stating he was thankful for earning the trust and support of residents for another term.
