Bancroft OPP have made an arrest after a vehicle was stolen followed by a getaway attempt Saturday night.
Police say a vehicle had been stolen which was left in a parking spot in Bancroft.
Later Saturday OPP spotted the stolen vehicle on Hastings Street North and tried to stop it but the driver took off.
It was found crashed into a hydro pole on another road and police, along with a K9 unit, searched the area but the driver was nowhere to be seen.
A suspect, 31-year-old Andrew Smith of Bancroft, was later arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, flight from police, and dangerous and impaired driving.
