Members of the Northumberland OPP and emergency crews responded to a fatal collision on the train tracks in Cramahe Township that occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. Wednesday.
A train collided with a pedestrian who was walking on the tracks near Colton Street south of Colborne.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at scene.
No other injuries were reported in the collision.
The area was closed to vehicle and train traffic until 2:00 a.m. Thursday while police investigated.
The deceased has been transported to a hospital for a post mortem examination.
This incident remains under investigation.
