Santa is coming back to town, the way we’re used to seeing him.
Belleville Chamber of Commerce CEO Jill Raycroft told Wednesday’s meeting of the Economic and Destination Development Committee that they’ve been given a tentative go ahead to hold a traditional Santa Claus parade this year.
“We are still awaiting some confirmation and it will require some enhanced security costs to manage crowd control in those areas where typically people would gather. But right now, we think we’re going to be able to go ahead.”
The parade, which is tentatively scheduled for November 21, will follow the same Bridge Street route as in 2019.
Raycroft says Hastings Prince Edward Public Health will have the final say on whether the parade can happen.
Last year’s parade was a drive-thru event due to the pandemic.
