Ontario’s Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney took a tour of the Quinte Region on Friday, to get an update on some provincially-funded projects locally and hear pitches on others.
Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith showed Mulroney around the region, taking a ride on Belleville Transit’s new Ward 2 bus route and checking in on a new active transportation trail along the Moira River.
Mulroney also heard from Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk, who touted the importance of adding another Highway 401 off-ramp in the east end of the city, to connect to the industrial park in the Cannifton Road area.
The tour then headed into The County, where Mayor Steve Ferguson and OPP Detachment Commander John Hatch discussed ideas for road safety improvements around Highway 62 and County Road 1.
They also told Mulroney about their plans to invest a $266,844 grant from the province, through the Connecting Links program.
