Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting five new cases of COVID-19 in the region today and two recoveries, for an active total of 40.
Three of the new cases were found in Belleville and two were found in Prince Edward County, with the transmission cause of all five cases still pending.
The health unit’s dashboard shows two people who tested positive were unvaccinated, two were partially vaccinated and one was fully vaccinated.
There are still two people in hospital, both in the ICU and on ventilators.
Eighty-six percent of the HPE population 12 and over has had at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine, with 78% fully vaccinated.
As of Wednesday, the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge Health Unit was reporting 12 active cases in Northumberland County.
