Phillip Lawrence is back as the Member of Parliament for Northumberland-Peterborough South.
On Monday evening Lawrence was reelected for the riding which spans from the border of Quinte West, through to Cobourg and Port Hope, north into the Liftlock City.
Lawrence spoke to Quinte News following his victory.
“Really humbled and honoured with the people of Northumberland-Peterborough South, that they have decided to honour me with another term.”
He says despite the great feeling of the victory, nothing has changed on the national front.
“This election was completely unnecessary and so we’ve blown $600 million and Parliament looks very similar to the way it did prior to the election.”
At 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, Lawrence has close to an 8,000 vote lead over Liberal Alison Lester. The NDP’s Kim McArthur-Jackson will finish 3rd at just under 10,000
About 65% of eligible voters cast a ballot
(Note: due to the mail-in ballot numbers yet to be counted, these numbers will change, however it will not change the final result. About 3,300 mail in ballots are part of the riding.)
