Construction work is beginning on a major redevelopment of the Dundas Street East and Herchimer Avenue intersection, which means the major roadway will be down to one lane for the next couple of months and into next year.
Crews from Gordon Barr Limited are on site and have begun phase one of the project, which includes watermain replacements, upgrades to water services and new traffic lights on Dundas Street East, from Herchimer Avenue to Bradgate Road.
The work also includes the installation of a new storm sewer system that will feed out to the Bay of Quinte, with that phase of the project expected to be done by this December.
Phase two of the work will run south along Herchimer Avenue, from Dundas Street East to Keegan Parkway and will include other underground water and sewer infrastructure upgrades, along with the building of a new multi-use trail.
That phase of work on the project will begin next April and be finished by November of 2022.
