New safety features for both motorists and pedestrians are being added to the Prince Edward Street (County Road 64) railway crossing in Brighton.
Construction is set to begin Tuesday and will involve a change, going from two areas to cross the tracks down to one, meaning there will be no stopping between the two sets of tracks.
The sidewalks approaching the tracks will be widened, pedestrian railings installed and flashers, bells and gates added at the pedestrian crossings.
The enhancements are being made in response to a steady increase in traffic in this area.
No road closures are anticipated during construction but there may be lane restrictions.
It’s expected the work will be completed late this fall.
