Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is moving back to daily reporting of COVID-19 cases, with four new cases and four recoveries reported on Tuesday, and three new cases and six recoveries on Wednesday.
The number of active cases as of Wednesday is down to 34, but three people are being treated in hospital. None of those patients is in the ICU or on a ventilator.
Three of the new cases were found in Belleville, with one each in Quinte West, Centre Hastings and Deseronto and Prince Edward County.
Six of the cases reported since Monday were found in unvaccinated people, with one fully vaccinated person testing positive as well.
The transmission cause of four cases is pending, with one each connected to close contact, travel and local spread.
Along with an ongoing outbreak at a workplace in Prince Edward County, which is connected to 19 cases, the health unit has also announced another outbreak at a child care facility in Belleville, that’s been connected to two cases.
On the vaccination front, 82% of HPE residents 12 and older have had at least one shot, with 72% fully vaccinated.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge Health Unit’s last update came on Monday, with six active cases in Northumberland County.
