The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has released its Return to Learning Plan for the 2021-22 school year.
The board says the plan, which is subject to revision if needed, aims to “prioritize health and safety for students and staff, maximize student learning time, support student and staff well-being, and ensure equal access to learning, supports and technology, with safety protocols in place.”
Among the guidelines in place, students are expected to self screen at home every day, with all students in grades one through 12 wearing masks at most times indoors.
The use of shared materials, such as toys and books, will be permitted and students will also be able to socialize outside of their cohorts, when outdoors during recess.
Vaccination rules fall in line with provincial guidelines, with the board encouraging staff and students to get their shots and those who aren’t immunized needing to take COVID-19 tests as in-line with those provincial rules.
Director of Education Katherine MacIver is scheduled to speak to Quinte News about the plan early next week, but for now you can click here to read the full document.
