If you know a teenager with strong pop culture knowledge, there’s a unique opportunity for them to try to cash in on that in Kingston this weekend.
Canada’s travelling game show “Pop Whiz” is making a stop at Fort Henry and Creative Consultant Ryan Vickers tells Quinte News they’re looking for contestants from all over the area.
“We’re looking for teenagers ages 13 to 17 that want to come down and try their luck in the Quiz Cube, answering a variety of pop culture questions, everything from music, to movies, to TV, to streaming, to fashion and food. We’re looking for contestants not just from the Kingston area, but from Belleville, or Brockville, or anyone that wants to come see us on set. That’s perfectly fine by us.”
Vickers says while there are cash prizes available for the winners, the goal is to get out to have some fun and test their knowledge.
“We do have cash prizes for the winner and the runner up. We like to think we have a friendly set as well, there are snacks and drinks, you get a t-shirt for participating as well. I’d like to encourage everyone just to come and see and play, and hopefully you do well, but if not hopefully you have a nice day out.”
The show, which has also filmed in North Bay, Timmins, Thunder Bay, Cornwall and Stratford, is slated to air on GameTV in 2022.
All public health guidelines are being followed by the production crew, host and contestants.
