Toronto City Council has voted to rename Dundas Street and that has some in the Quinte Region wondering if communities here should be doing the same.
Toronto Council recently voted 17-7 in favour of the name change, following a petition in 2020 asking to scrap the name, because of Henry Dundas’ opposition to ending transatlantic slave trade in the late 18th century.
Recommendations of new names for the Toronto street will come from public input and go into a report that will come back to council in 2022.
While no local municipalities have formally announced plans to study a name change, you can give your input on the idea by voting in our poll below.
