The Belleville Police Service responded to 77 calls from July 5, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. until July 6, 2021 at 5:00 a.m.
Driver Arrested
On July 5, 2021, at 9:20 p.m., police received a call about a possible impaired driver who caused damage to an east end drive through. Police located the vehicle a short time later on Munro Avenue and conducted a stop. The driver had been drinking, and police attempted to administer a roadside breath test which the male driver had refused. The driver, 28-year-old Faisal Tauqir of Belleville, was arrested and charged with refusing to provide a breath sample. Tauqir was later released with a court date of August 12, 2021.
Arrested on warrants
On July 6, 2021, at 2:45 a.m., police stopped a suspicious vehicle on North Front Street. Police spoke with the female driver who provided a name the officers believed was false. Police were eventually able to uncover the driver’s name and learned that she had two outstanding warrants for possession of methamphetamine and two counts of failing to attend court. The female was also prohibited from driving stemming from a previous driving-related criminal conviction. Shannon Brooks, 32, of Maynooth was arrested on her outstanding warrants as well as driving while prohibited. She was held for a bail hearing on July 6, 2021.
