Another family has a new home thanks to Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings.
The city of Belleville donated the land and Geertsma Construction donated the house. Habitat for Humanity Chair Jill Raycroft tells Quinte News, “In the midst of a pandemic, this was a unique project that made it possible to house a family that has been waiting a very long time for their home. Since the relocation last November, Geertsma has been the lead on the necessary renovations to a home that would have otherwise been demolished.”
“Through their effort we were able to move that home in November. And they have finalized the renovations and made it now liveable for the last family that has been waiting. “
Hazzem Koudsi, recently appointed as the Executive Director, issued this statement, “I am very fortunate to witness the joy and excitement of this traditional key ceremony within my first two weeks of assuming this role; what an incredible introduction to the impact this organization has, and the dedication and hard work that went on behind the scenes by so many compassionate people to make what Habitat PEH does possible.”
Habitat for Humanity PEH is moving forward with funding applications for a much larger project to come.
The application process for family partners is currently closed but as opportunities for housing inventory develop, will be opened to accept new families as soon as possible.
