Hastings County council has reviewed a call for federal and provincial support for homelessness which came through the Niagara region.
At its meeting Thursday, County Council considered a motion from the town of Bancroft supporting Niagara Regional Council’s outline of six requests to the federal and provincial governments.
These included that the upper governments provide money for bridge housing, and calling for an update on the current status of actions being taken to address addiction in Niagara.
Mayor of Bancroft Paul Jenkins pointed out the situation is not unique to Niagara.
“We’ve met many times with ministers and are looking for some followup action on this front. And even our local OPP detachment are extremely frustrated do not know what to do anymore.”
County council took no action on the Bancroft letter.
