More charges have been laid against a Manitoba man who was wanted on murder charges there and was found in Prince Edward County late last week.
Eric Wildman was arrested by Ontario Provincial Police after various specialty units executed a search warrant at a home on Massassauga Road in Ameliasburgh last Thursday night.
OPP say during that search, shots were fired at officers and their investigation led to the seizure of a Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun and other ballistic evidence at the scene.
Police say they also found more ammunition in the vehicle that Wildman had been driving.
The 34-year-old, who has since been returned to Manitoba, is now also charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of attempted murder of an OPP officer and possessing a restricted firearm without a licence.
Investigators say both provinces will be working together to figure out the most efficient way to handle any jurisdiction issues in the case since it has crossed provincial boundaries.
