Hospice Quinte has received more financial support for its proposed new centre.
Trenval Business Development Corporation has awarded the future Hospice Quinte Care Centre $5,000.
The funds were approved based on the proposed new facility’s capacity for fostering an increase in volunteer opportunities and closing the existing gap in palliative care services across Quinte.
In a released statement, Hospice Quinte Executive Director Jenifer May-Anderson says, “We are very pleased to receive this needed funding from Trenval. Upon opening, the Hospice Quinte Care Centre will see our organization’s staff contingent more than double to 15 full-time positions, with additional part-time positions created as well.”
Anderson added, “There will be new and diverse opportunities for volunteer engagement too, including everything from assisting with meal preparation for palliative clients to caring for the beautification of the property both inside and outdoors.”
Construction of the future Hospice Quinte Care Centre, located on Old Highway 2 across from Bayside Secondary School, is well underway with opening slated for this coming fall.
Professional palliative care will be provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and at no cost to the family.
“Trenval is pleased to provide support to Hospice Quinte through our ‘Community Economic Development’ initiatives. Partners of this project are implementing a facility that will provide dignified end of life care to those in need, as well as critical hospice-related supports for families and caregivers in our area,” says Trenval Board of Director Chair, Joanna March. “It’s proactive projects like this that help boost economic development locally and bring our community and its volunteers together.”
