An importer and exporter based out of Prince Edward County is participating in a program aimed at making it green.
This month Picton Terminals has announced it is participating in Green Marine, an environmental certification program for the maritime industry in North America.
Picton Terminals director Ben Doornekamp says joining the program is in lockstep with their vision of sustainable growth.
Green Marine’s Executive Director David Bolduc says the company is strengthening its commitment to sustainability, by having its efforts externally verified.
He adds it will likely inspire other businesses in the region to undertake greater environmental goals.
There are 14 performance indicators including greenhouse gases, air emissions, leak and spill prevention, waste management, noise and more.
