A pilot program could help some local small- and medium-sized manufacturing businesses to upgrade their manufacturing technology.
Quinte Economic Development Commission Executive Director Chris King says Trenval is providing $50,000 for the project.
The Quinte Technology Adoption Program (QTAP) will provide funding at 50% up to a maximum contribution of $10,000 to support manufacturers with technology upgrades like automation, software or robotics.
“Back, March of 2020 a group of manufacturers got together and they talked about the need to adopt more technologies into their manufacturing processes. One of the solutions they identified was to have an incentive program to support those small- and medium-sized companies to allow them to overcome the cost barrier of putting those technologies in place.”
King says if the initial program is successful, they will aim to expand it.
He hopes the QEDC will be ready to accept applications within the next few weeks.
