“The county could send letters out to say we’re here to help you. Anything we can do to help you populate that storefront? What type of business are you looking to go into it?”
Economic and Tourism Manager Andrew Redden told the committee “One of the things we heard from the municipalities and the mayors is retaining and expanding the commercial services.”
“It’s proposed on page eight that we come up with a menu of activities, purchaseable attractions and local businesses in the area. Have that on the table of the cottage that somebody rents or or have that handed out at the campgrounds.”
Redden added, “What we heard was that we needed a better directory of professional contractors, numbers of businesses to find someone to do electrical work, convert seasonal residences, that kind of thing.”
“So what we’d like to do is look at creating a robust directory of licensed, or see it developed, of professional renovators and trades businesses. And then also identify where those gaps are and see if we can fill those.”
The committee has decided to invite Quinte Homebuilders’ Association to attend the next meeting of the committee in June.
The idea is to deal with any gaps and shortages in the report and have it completed by this fall.
