Belleville Fire Prevention Officers have given an update on a blaze that destroyed a home on Alnet Drive earlier this week.
Firefighters responded to the west end home around 7:45 p.m. on May 17 and say flames quickly consumed an outside deck, before spreading to the house itself.
The fire has been deemed accidental but the damage costs are estimated to be more than $400,000.
Fire Prevention Officer Jason Vye says there were a number of bystanders watching at the scene and is reminding members of the public to stay away from these types of incidents.
He says while smoke can be very toxic, fires can also lead to a chance of explosions which could “consume large areas in a fireball in a split second.”
