Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services is participating in the provincial management program, moving patients out of greater Toronto to areas across Ontario.
A report to the Emergency Services Committee on Wednesday indicated the local service started working on this April 17 and scheduled staff every day up to May 3.
The first week, 221 patients were relocated out of the GTA, of which 30 out of 40 patients came to eastern Ontario hospitals.
During the week of April 26, there were an additional 240 movements, of which 40 patients were to be moved to eastern Ontario hospitals.
Daily staff meetings to coordinate these resources have been occurring, to help in the planning process.
The staffing for these ambulances are being funded 100% by the province.
