For the first time since 2020 there is a new COVID-19 related death logged on the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health COVID-19 dashboard.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting 10 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday along with 25 new recoveries for a total of 154 active cases.
There are five new cases in Belleville, three in Centre Hastings and two in Quinte West. The causes of two cases are linked to close contact from outbreaks, two are just close contact, one is local and five are listed as pending.
There are still eight people hospitalized with the virus with one person on a ventilator and one less person in ICU for a total of three. It is unknown if the lower ICU and ventilator numbers are related to the newly reported death.
There have been 12 more Variant of Concern cases identified and the total since the pandemic began now sits at 120.
The Hastings Prince Edward Region continues to climb in vaccinations. To date, 40,747 vaccine doses have been administered, with 3,211 people fully vaccinated.
In Northumberland County, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is reporting 15 new cases of COVID-19.
There are currently 93 active cases there.
