Two Belleville police officers, charged by the Special Investigations Unit with assault causing bodily harm, will be back in court early next month.
The lawyer for Matthew Sweet and Kyle King, Leo Kinahan, appeared on the pair’s behalf in Belleville assignment court on Thursday.
He told court that his team is still awaiting disclosure in the case, but has asked for a judicial pretrial on April 7 at 8:30 a.m., with the goal of setting a date for trial.
Kinahan had previously told Quinte News he expected a trial would be held in September and last for one week.
Sweet and King were charged by the SIU in late February, following an arrest in September of last year, where a man suffered serious injuries.
No other details have been released by the SIU, since the case is now before the courts.
