Seven classes at schools within the Limestone District School Board, including Marysville Public School, had to be dismissed early yesterday due to COVID-19 concerns.
A release from the school board says the students were sent home and will continue to remain in isolation as a precaution, after “the identification of a contact of a positive COVID-19 case”.
The board says that case is considered to be one of the variants of concern, or VOC.
There are currently no positive cases in the school board related to this VOC, but officials say the precautions are being taken because those variants can spread very quickly.
Affected cohorts and school communities involved have been notified and the schools all remain open to any student who has not been identified as a close contact.
