The Hyatt and MacDonald houses will remain standing, at least until this fall.
According to Countylive.ca a judge has allowed a Judicial Review to proceed into whether the provincial government followed proper procedures before announcing it would demolish the two Prince Edward County heritage homes, located on Sandbanks Provincial Park property.
The houses, built in the mid-1800s, were to have been preserved, according the the province’s master plan for Sandbanks that was released in 1993, but that position changed recently when it was announced they would be demolished because they were beyond repair and a danger to the public.
Many in the county, including council, are pushing to have the houses preserved.
The Judicial Review is to begin September 15.
