Prince Edward County council was set to again push the province to stop its planned demolition of two heritage homes in Sandbanks Provincial Park Tuesday night but since the issue is now before the courts there was no discussion.
After committing to preserving both the MacDonald and Hyatt houses along County Road 12 in a parks master plan from 1993, the province recently announced that the structures were beyond repair and that it would demolish them for the public’s safety.
The houses are considered to be of heritage value by the county and efforts have been underway to save them.
A few days ago county resident Edwin Rowse filed a legal action pausing any work on the properties.
A case management hearing is being held today (Wednesday)
