For the second time since the beginning of COVID-19, Stirling Festival Theatre is opening its doors to live audiences.
In late August last year, the theatre reopened safely for seven events.
It was one of the few arts organizations to be able to do so.
Starting at the end of March, the theatre will open again.
It will follow the protocols laid out by Ontario’s 2021 COVID-19 reopening framework and play to a maximum of 50 people in the 400 seat theatre.
Artistic Director Ken MacDougall tells Quinte News “COVID has been incredibly difficult for everyone … the theatre has looked at live streaming options.”
“We will continue to do that. We did a play reading online which played to 35 people and we’ve got patrons visiting the Stirling Festival Theatre online from Philadelphia and Quebec.”
MacDougall adds, “There will be a theatre camp for children during the April spring break. Using those platforms to maybe reach a new audience, or broaden our audience. Let’s keep that kind of option around. I think for months, maybe a year or years there’s going to be a lot of our vulnerable population who probably don’t want to go out so let’s find a way to bring entertainment to them.”
