A survey by international employment firm Manpower suggests a fairly strong outlook in the Quinte region as far as the hiring of workers is concerned in the immediate future.
A survey of local employers showed 17% anticipated hiring employees in the second quarter of the year while 78% planned to remain as is with no cutbacks. The remaining 5% of respondents had no opinion.
The latest outlook is more positive than reported in the first quarter of the year.
Meanwhile, nationally, the survey of over 1,300 employers shows 15% plan on hiring this quarter while only 4% percent were considering layoffs.
