Lennox and Addington OPP have charged a Belleville man with a long list of offences following an incident on Highway 401 late last month.
Officers responded to a call of a possible impaired driver on the evening of February 21 and located the suspect vehicle in the westbound lanes, just past the Camden East exit in Loyalist Township.
Investigators say the driver showed signs of impairment and after being taken to the detachment for further testing, 28-year-old Matthew Fredrick Bain was charged with impaired driving and eight other offences including:
- Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drug
- Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit
- Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by qualified driver
- Class G1 Licence Holder – Drive on prohibited highway
- Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol concentration above zero
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
- Drive motor vehicle – no plates
- Fail to notify change of address
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
He was released from custody with a court date in Napanee in April, but also had his vehicle impounded for a week and licence suspended for 90 days.
