COVID-19 vaccinations have started for high priority staff at Quinte Health Care hospitals.
A clinic has been set up in the education centre at Belleville General Hospital to vaccinate high priority staff members from all four hospitals, in line with the HPE Public Health rollout and provincial guidelines.
High priority staff at QHC include those in the intensive care and emergency departments, operating and recovery rooms, Quinte 5, anaesthesia department and the COVID assessment centre.
QHC management emailed about 1,000 staff members in that high priority group on Monday afternoon and by Thursday afternoon had more than 750 pre-registrations to get the shot.
The hospital group plans to operate its internal clinics for the next nine days, followed by a five-day-a-week program, depending on vaccine supplies.
