Three people from out of town have been arrested after Quinte West OPP investigated a shoplifting complaint at a Trenton business this past weekend.
Officers were called to the store on 2nd Dug Hill Road, around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and found the suspects, who had allegedly stolen close to $2,200 worth of merchandise.
The Community Street Crime Unit followed up the case, with investigators finding that the trio also appeared to be involved in several other thefts across the province and leading to officers executing a search warrant on their vehicle.
Another $5,000 worth of stolen goods were found in that search.
A 26-year-old from Brampton and a 30-year-old from St. Catharines were each charged with three counts of theft under $5,000, while a 23-year-old from Mississauga is facing the same charges, along with charges of possession of property obtained by crime, obstructing police and breaching a release order.
Police say the investigation is continuing and more charges could be coming.
