A 38-year-old Quinte West man is facing charges after police say a child ate some cannabis-infused candies.
OPP responded to a home on Fish and Game Club road, around 6:30 p.m. this past Friday, where they say the three-year-old had eaten a “high quantity of cannabis edibles” and was taken to hospital by paramedics.
Following an investigation that involved the Quinte West Crime Unit, a charge of criminal negligence causing bodily harm was laid against the man, whose name wasn’t released.
He’ll have a court date in Belleville on March 18.
The child was treated and released from hospital.
Police are reminding anyone using cannabis edibles to keep them away from kids, or pets, as they may look like normal food items and can be eaten accidentally.
