Quinte Access Transit provided an update on its ongoing rebranding efforts at Tuesday’s Quinte West Council meeting.
The rebrand includes a new logo, a new website design to make it more accessible and user-friendly, new uniforms for drivers, a mobile app and updated social media.
Quinte Access Executive Director Shelly Ackers told councillors that 2020 was a busy year for Quinte Access despite the pandemic.
“We did finish up the year with just under 19,000 trips on our specialized service and just under 52,000 on the public transit service.”
The transit service rolled out its new County Transit route from Picton to Belleville in August of 2020. Ackers said they’re still working on getting riders from Quinte West to Belleville with plans for a direct Loyalist College stop.
“We have put into the plan that we would do a Loyalist stop. They have a great bus shelter there that has lighting, they have another pad they can extend to that they’re willing to make bigger if need be. So for Loyalist we would definitely go to the college for a drop off.”
Ackers said they have more buses coming possibly as soon as the end of April and they’d like to finalize the rebrand before then.
Mayor Jim Harrison lauded the work done by Quinte Access over the course of recent years saying they’re proud of Quinte Access and the service it provides as well as noting the importance of eventually getting service to Belleville from Quinte West.
