January home sales in the Quinte Region were down slightly from last year but the month was still one of the best on record.
The Quinte and District Association of Realtors says home sales for the month dropped 4.7%, but were only nine sales short of the 193 unit sale record, posted in January of 2020.
The average list price of a home in the Quinte Region last month was $423,500, up 32.6% from the same month in 2020, with buyers spending an average of about $152,000 more than that to make their purchases.
That $575,727 average sale price is up 47.9% from January last year and breaks a record for the region.
While list prices and dollar sales were up, home listings were down more than 30%, making last month the lowest for January listings in more than 30 years.
