If you were out and about in Belleville Wednesday, you may have seen a stranger walking carrying a large cross through the city.
That’s Warren Parke of British Columbia, and he tells Quinte News that he’s walking across the country in support of Veterans, clean drinking water for first nations, cancer, autism and mental health awareness. He started walking shortly before Christmas on December 17 in Kelowna, B.C. He explained how he’s gotten so far.
“I walk six to nine hours a day. I can do 22 to 27 kilometers every four hours”
He explained that he walks through cities carrying an 80 pound cross and then drives to the next city once he’s gotten through.
Parke set up a GoGundMe page with over $8,000 raised so far and says right now he’s focused on getting to Ottawa where he’ll decide on whether or not to go further.
