Municipal buildings and recreation facilities will reopen to the public on Tuesday, February 16, as the province gradually transitions from the shutdown back to the COVID-19 response framework.
The County is currently working to safely reopen municipal buildings, town halls, and museums by putting staff in place and reimplementing enhanced screening protocols. Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street) will be open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Picton Fire Station (8 McDonald Drive) will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., seven days a week. Access to the municipal offices on the second floor of the Edward Building remains by appointment only.
Access to the walking track and ice programming at Wellington and District Community Centre will resume on February 16. The walking track will be open Monday to Friday for four one-hour sessions (7 to 8 a.m., 8 to 9 a.m., 9 to 10 a.m., and 10 to 11 a.m.). Ten people maximum per session and pre-registration is required. You can book a maximum of a week at a time. Call 613-476-2148 extension 5041 to book your walking session. Individual ice rentals, public skating, and ticket/shinny ice activity are not available at this time.
The Prince Edward Community Centre continues to host the COVID-19 assessment centre and cannot be booked for recreational purposes.
Indoor service at the County of Prince Edward Public Library branches will resume on Wednesday, February 10. Indoor service will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. The library will continue to offer curbside pickup on those days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Province of Ontario announced yesterday that the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health region will move into the Green – Protect zone of the COVID-19 response framework as of 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10. While the stay-at-home order will be lifted in Hastings Prince Edward Public Health region as of February 10, the province is encouraging people to limit travel in order to protect themselves and others.
