On Sunday February 7, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m., members from the Northumberland Detachment of the OPP, Northumberland Paramedics Service and the Trent Hills Fire Department, attended a location on Concession Road 8 West just west of County Road 25, after receiving a report of motor vehicle collision involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV).
Initial investigation shows that a black Kia sedan was travelling west on Concession Road 8 West located north of the village of Warkworth, when it collided with an ATV at the crest of a hill.
The impact caused the rider to be ejected off the ATV.
The 71-year-old male operator of the ATV was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital then transported to a trauma centre in Kingston to be treated for serious injuries sustained from the collision.
The occupants of the Kia sedan were uninjured.
Concession Road 8 West was closed for several hours while OPP Central Region Technical Collision Investigators attended to measure and document the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
