If Belleville council approves on Monday, there could be some additional ways to cast your vote in the next municipal election.
Councillors will see a preliminary report on alternative voting methods, which include by internet or phone, vote-by-mail and of course, in-person voting.
The initial report from City Clerk Matt MacDonald says it would likely cost between $235,000 and $270,000 to implement online and telephone voting, with a savings only being realized once more traditional methods are either cut back, or eliminated all together.
A final report will come to council in March, before a public consultation period begins, with a final decision expected on the matter in April.
The next municipal election is slated for Monday October 24, 2022.
