Good work by Prince Edward County firefighters kept farm livestock from being killed in a fire at a farm near Big Island last night.
Fire crews were called to a farm on County Road 15 in the hamlet of Northport around 6 o’clock.
Upon arrival they found a pole barn serving as a workshop/machinery storage building up in flames. It was destroyed but nearby structures housing livestock were not damaged.
There were no injuries and an investigation into a cause is underway.
