The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Quinte West resident following a disturbance.
On January 15, 2021 at approximately 2:15 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a Trenton residence where it was reported a person was in attendance contrary to court ordered conditions.
The individual had fled prior to officers arriving. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit searched the area however were not able to locate the suspect at that time.
At approximately 5:50 p.m. on the same day, police investigation led to a separate residence and with the assistance of the OPP ERT and Canine Unit, located and arrested the accused.
As a result, a 41-year-old resident of Quinte West was charged with the following Criminal Code Offences:
- Unlawfully in a dwelling house
- Criminal harassment – threatening conduct
- Failure to comply with a release order – two counts
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for video bail on January 18, 2021. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
