The Belleville Police Service responded to 39 calls for service from January 17, 2021 at 5 a.m. to January 18, 2021 at 5 a.m.
Family dispute leads to charges
On January 17, 2021 at 4 p.m., police attended an east end address regarding a female who was assaulted. While speaking with the involved parties, police learned that a 14-year-old had been assaulted by her father during an argument. The male, a 45-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with one count of assault, and he will appear in court on February 11, 2021. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Prohibited Driver
On January 18, 2021 at 2:05 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on North Front Street that had a headlight out. Police identified the driver and learned that he was prohibited from driving due to previous impaired driving offences. Ryan Rodrigues, 44, of Belleville was charged with operating a vehicle while prohibited. He will appear in court on February 18, 2021. His vehicle was also impounded for 45 days.
