In March 2020 the Belleville Police Service received information from the United States Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
A large Child Pornography investigation had been conducted in the southern U.S. and the information forwarded was that a resident of Belleville had purchased numerous images and videos from the internet.
As a result of this investigation, on January 14, 2021, members of the Criminal Investigations Division – Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) investigators, Forensic Identification and Tech Crimes Units executed a search warrant at a central Belleville residence.
Police have charged Donald BUCHANAN 66 years of age of Belleville with the following;
- Three counts of accessing child pornography
- One count of possessing child pornography
Buchanan was released on a recognizance with a court date of March 11, 2021.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
