Belleville has once again made the list of top growth cities in Canada, according to U-Haul’s annual migration patterns for 2020, but with a significant jump.
The city is up to number four on the list from number 25 in 2019.
People heading into the city in one-way U-Haul truck rentals increased 20% over the past year, with departures up just 1% from 2019, with arrivals accounting for 56.4% of all one-way traffic into the city, from do-it-yourself movers.
The top growth city in Canada was North Bay, with North Vancouver, Kingston and the Barrie/Orillia area rounding out the top five.
U-Haul says while its migration trends “do not correlate directly to population or economic growth”, the data “is an effective gauge of how well cities are attracting and maintaining residents”.
