Construction could begin this summer on an important and long delayed transportation link from Belleville’s west end to the Downtown District.
At its meeting Monday afternoon council will be asked to approve a tender to build a new wider multi-use Catharine Street footbridge.
The old one is in disrepair and has been closed for some time.
Staff is recommending that the bid of $2.9 million including tax from North American company Construction Demathieu & Bard be accepted.
That bid was the lowest of 13 tenders.
