“They need beds and bedding but they also need a little hope and so does everybody right now and that’s why we’re asking people to share their messages of hope with us.”
Referring to the pandemic, Suart says the hundreds of families they deal with are in difficult spots but this year its even harder.
“We know that a lot of the families that we’re dealing with right now are in a really difficult and challenging spot. I mean COVID-19 has been hard on everybody but for the families we serve it’s perhaps been even harder.”
The agency has been serving about 800 children and families.
The Children’s Services will launch its Tree of Hope campaign on November 12, and is asking the public to send messages of hope to the children as well as donations to the agency.
In a statement, it is asking people to share a short message on the agency’s social media:
Tell them you care, that this community cares. Tell them to work hard at school and to help their families. Tell them to be brave in the face of COVID-19. Tell them they are not alone.
